Privacy Policy- WhatsMyMenu
§1 What we collect
Sign-in details: your email address, or the ID Apple or Google gives us. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only see the relay address.
Your kitchen: your household's name and city, the people in it (their names, whether each is an adult or child, and any health conditions or goals you add), your diet and taste settings, pantry, grocery list, meal plan, cooking history and saved recipes.
Your public profile: your display name, city, @handle and profile picture, whether you're vegetarian-only, and whether you're open to questions about your dishes.
What you share: dishes, photos, notes, recipes, and the questions and answers you post.
Who you follow. Other households can see how many followers you have, but never who they are.
Reports and blocks you make, and the notifications in your bell.
A push token, if you turn on notifications, so we can reach your phone.
Your Chef Plus status: whether it's active, until when, and which store you bought it from. We never see your card details.
Your @handle is created from the part of your email before the @, with dots and symbols removed, so amma.k+x@gmail.com becomes @ammakx. Your handle is public, and you can change or clear it anytime in Me.
AI features
A few features send a single item to our AI provider for one request: a photo of your pantry shelf or a recipe card to read its ingredients, a spoken pantry list to transcribe, a web page or dish name when you import a recipe, and anything you're about to publish, so it can be checked for safety first.
We keep only the result, such as the list of ingredients or whether a post was approved. The photo or recording itself is never stored or logged.
Health and children
Health conditions are used only to rank dishes for your household. They're never shown to anyone or shared, and you can delete them anytime in Me → Who eats here.
For children, a first name or nickname is enough. Please add health details only if you want the app to take them into account.
§2 What others can see
Visible to other households
Your display name, city, @handle, profile picture (once it passes a safety check), vegetarian-only setting and whether you accept questions, along with your posts, photos, questions, answers and follower count.
Never shown
Your email, your Apple or Google ID, the names and health details of your household, your pantry, grocery list and meal plan, and the kitchens you follow.
§3 Why we use it
We use your information to run the app, suggest meals that suit your household, show the community, keep it safe, send the reminders you've asked for, and check whether Chef Plus is active.
We rely on your consent, which you give by signing in and posting, and on our legitimate interest in running a safe service. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.
§4 Who processes it
Service. What it does Where
Supabase Database, sign-in and photo storage Mumbai, India
OpenAI All AI features, including web search when importing USA
RevenueCat Verifies store purchases USA
Expo Delivers push notifications USA
Open-Meteo Weather for your city EU
Each of these services is bound to protect your data at least as well as this policy does, and to use it only to provide their service to us.
Your account, kitchen and photos are stored in India. The AI and weather services never receive your name, email or account ID. We may also share information when the law requires it.
§5 How long we keep it
Data Kept
Kitchen, profile and follows Until you delete your account
Photos, questions and answers Until you delete them or your account
Posts Shown to others for 2 days, then kept in your own history until you delete your account
Notifications Until you clear them or delete your account
Photos and recordings sent to AI Not kept
Push token Until you turn off notifications, reinstall, or delete your account
Reports and takedowns 3 years after the decision
Backups Up to 30 days
Deleting your account removes your kitchen, posts and photos. We keep a brief record of removed content only where we need it to handle a complaint (Terms §7).
§6 Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can access, correct and erase your data, nominate someone to act on your behalf, and complain to us or to the Data Protection Board of India.
Most of your data can be edited directly in Me, and deleting your account erases it. For anything else, email support@uttamaapps.com and we'll reply within 30 days.
Grievance Officer: Gayathri Samikannu, support@uttamaapps.com
§7 Security
Each household can change only its own data, and the database enforces this. Passwords are stored hashed by our sign-in provider, so we never see them.
Photos are served from unlisted, unguessable web addresses. Anyone with the exact address can open a photo, which is why a takedown deletes the file itself. If you spot a security problem, please email support@uttamaapps.com.
§8 Changes
When we change this policy, we'll update this page and let you know in the app if the change affects you.
